Cobia Point on Koh Rong Samloem island is a famous dive site and a habitat for huge cobias, which look like reef sharks. They are absolutely safe and very curious. Cobias like to accompany divers during dives. Thanks to secluded beaches and few people visiting the island, it is an ideal place for unique dives.
Near Koh Koun Island there is a coral reef of unprecedented beauty. It is literally a garden of coral and sea anemones. There are parrotfish, yellow boxfish, yellow-eye mullets shoals, schools of electric rays, moray eels, imposing sharks. You can night dive and see catsharks, whiptail stingrays and eels.
Rocky Bay is an ideal place to observe coral and fish. There are no dangerous species of fish here, but mostly young fish shoals and crustaceans. The Sihanoukville resort is a center of diving with white sandy beaches and virgin snorkeling sites. You can see bamboo shark, marlin, and sea turtles here.
On the secluded island of Koh Rong Samloem there is an amazing dive site called Nudibranch Heaven. Its shallow depth and fitting environment have made it a habitat for cuttlefish, moray eels, and baby octopuses. Bright shoals of parrotfish and stingrays often make a visit to local marine life.
Cambodia’s hospitable sea is an ideal place for first scuba diving experience. Even teenagers and young children can be trained under such conditions. Diving near Cambodia has just started developing. There are few chances of meeting other divers underwater. But there is a good chance of diving where no one has ever been, and it is even possible to find a sunken ship that has never been investigated by anyone.

Dive Shops in Cambodia

Most dive shops are located on Koh Rong Samloem and Koh Rong islands. They offer daily tours and safaris. You can order instructor services or rent the necessary equipment. There are courses both for experienced divers and for beginners.

Health & Safety

It is recommended that you get insurance before traveling there. If you don't have insurance, medical assistance in Cambodia is available in public and other clinics, but you will have to pay for all services at the rates of each particular medical facility. The level of medical services is extremely low. If you have medical insurance, you can work with a company, specializing in referring a patient to a good clinic, and all necessary medical services and medicines will be paid by the insurance company. Recommended vaccinations: diphtheria, tetanus, influenza, measles, rubella. The crime rate here is quite low, and people are friendly; you can safely walk through the most deserted and secluded corners of the country.

Dangerous Marine Life

There are potentially dangerous places, so you should dive only in designated areas. Moray eels and reef stonefish present a serious threat. Gastropods at the bottom of the Gulf of Siam are mortally dangerous.

Eat & Drinks

Cambodian restaurants have a mix of Thai and French cuisines on their menus. They mainly serve seafood, rice and root vegetables. Restaurants offer roast crab, Khmer red curry with coconut milk and amok fish. And fried ants are a special treat. Insects are commonly used here as seasoning for fried beef. It is better to buy bottled water. As for soft drinks, there are some interesting choices- filtered coconut milk, palm tree sap and a mix of fruit juices with egg yolk. As for local alcohol, there is palm wine and rice vodka.
